The Toyota Prius first went on sale worldwide in 2000 (after debuting in its homeland of Japan in 1997), making it the world’s first mass-produced hybrid vehicle. The Prius sold well and was followed up by two more models—the Prius c, which was a smaller compact that was oriented around city driving, and the Prius v, a larger hatchback. Now, Toyota has announced another Prius: a 2017 Toyota Prius Prime Coming Soon. The Prius Prime will be a plug-in hybrid, a more effective version of the standard hybrid.
The Advantages of the Plug-In 2017 Toyota Prius Prime
Plug-in hybrids are considered the next step up from conventional hybrids. While conventional hybrids rely on braking and using the gas engine to recharge the battery, plug-in hybrids allow the battery to be charged through an external power outlet. This means that, wherever you can find a charging station (and charging stations are becoming more and more common), you’ll be able to charge your hybrid and continue driving. Plug-in hybrids such as the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime Coming Soon have stronger engines and a longer overall range.
The Eco-Friendly 2017 Toyota Prius Prime
The 2017 Toyota Prius Prime Coming Soon promises a total range of up to 600 miles on a full tank of gas and a full battery charge, allowing you to travel farther than ever before. The daily commuter will find that the Prius Prime can work for them thanks to its 22-mile range of pure-electrical driving. If you have a charging port both at your house and at your work place, you’ll be able to get to and from home without using a drop of gas. Hybrid mode allows you to go farther, with the aforementioned 600-mile range allowing you to travel on longer trips without worrying about refilling often. The Prius Prime can charge in 5.5 hours using a standard house outlet, and can charge fully in as little as 2.5 hours when hooked up to a 240-volt public charging station.
More details on the 2017 Prius Prime will come with time. For now though, many people are already anticipating the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime Coming Soon.
